There are three basic levels of editing that make up the editing process. They are: Proofreading, Copyediting, and Content Editing, all of which are described below. All three of these levels correct mistakes, however, each focuses on different kinds of errors. Canterwine Press is flexible when regarding your work, and will certainly modify or combine these elements to better serve your needs.

Proofreading (light editing)

During the proofreading stage, Canterwine Press will hunt for typographical and punctuation errors, misspellings, and formatting inconsistencies (e.g. incorrect citations, pagination, and use of quotes, etc.). Proofreading is recommended for final drafts, manuscripts ready for publication, or writers sending submissions to agents or editors.

Copyediting (medium editing)

Copyediting encompasses fixing grammatical errors (e.g. run-on sentences, sentence fragments, and sentence structure), word usage, and syntax. Canterwine Press will also examine your tone, overall organization, and check for redundancy. Copyediting is recommended for second drafts or work that needs a bit of polishing up.

Content Editing (heavy editing)

Content editing is an intense revision of the manuscript, concentrating on the piece's intent, structure, clarity, and readability. Canterwine Press considers this stage of editing as "The Manuscript Makeover." Expect rewriting and restructuring. Content editing is recommended for completed first drafts and manuscripts that need professional guidance and direction.
